A quick trip to downtown Baton Rouge will take you on a nice bike ride along the Mississippi River. You can ride 4.3 miles along the levee between downtown Baton Rouge, South, to Farr Park. If you want to continue, you can continue over to St. Gabriel. The path becomes gravel after you pass Farr Park. Many people like to take a ride over to L’Auberge and stop for lunch and a little gambling before heading back.
Here is a list of the trailheads. Choose a place to start and have some fun!
- South Boulevard Levee Trailhead
- LSU – Skip Bertman Drive Levee Trailhead
- Brightside Drive Levee Trailhead

If biking the levee seems a bit intense to start, you can always bike around the LSU campus. Ride through the campus or around the beautiful lakes. Just watch out for the runners and walkers!
