Just because you missed the spring selling season doesn’t mean it’s too late to list your home.
While most transactions do happen during spring, you shouldn’t discount the summer season right away. In fact, you might even find more opportunities if you wait a bit to put your house on the market.
Here are 4 reasons why summer is a great time to list your home.
People are more motivated to buy
The latest REALTORS® Confidence Index reports that buyer demand remains strong across most real estate markets. People want to buy a house and they want to do it now.
In areas with a limited supply of homes such as Baton Rouge, any new listings are receiving more attention and better offers. Take advantage of this seller’s market if you want to fetch a higher price for your home.
More daylight
We all want our house to be presented in the best possible light. Summer means longer days, which also means more time for showings and open houses. Just think about how your house and garden will look in the golden daylight.
Low inventory
We are in a seller’s market, which means there is not enough supply of houses to meet current demand. If you choose to list your home this summer, you can ride the wave and receive offers sooner rather than later.
But don’t wait too long. Inventory may increase as new homes get built and more homeowners unload their properties.
Interest rates and home values are rising
According to Realtor.com chief economist Danielle Hale, mortgage rates are predicted to rise in 2021. Home values are also expected to increase 5.7 percent on top of the high gains from 2020.
If you are thinking of selling your current home and buying a new one, you might want to secure the lower rates and values while you still can.
