Remember last year when we entered 2021 full of hope and optimism that it would be better than 2020? Well, here we are entering 2022 feeling the same way! What a roller coaster ride these past two years have been!
Let’s take a look at the 2021 year in review…
Greater Baton Rouge
2021 continued a whirlwind of multiple offers and over asking bids for buyers. Many first-time homebuyers decided to jump into the market with interest rates staying low. The problem they faced was that there wasn’t enough inventory for everyone to win their bids. There were 900 more DSF (detached single-family) homes sold in the nine parish Greater Baton Rouge area in 2021 compared to 2020.
October brought a spike in buyers due to Hurricane Ida. Many people found themselves relocating to our area, especially Ascension Parish, after experiencing catastrophic damages to their homes in Hurrican Ida’s path.
The new regional MLS, ROAM, came into existence at just the right time to help us see properties available in the Greater New Orleans area, Bayou area, and Greater Central area. This tool was beneficial after Hurricane Ida when we needed to see what was available in places like LaPlace and Vacherie.
Town & Parish
At Town & Parish Realty, we watched Nicole Epps have her best year ever in real estate. She set her goals last year and was intentional with her schedule. She had a great year that afforded her to meet some pretty sweet personal goals. It was a pleasure to be a part of her success!
In January, Tasia Hebert came on board as a brand new agent and absolutely crushed it! Tasia dove right in and wasn’t afraid to ask questions. I believe one of the most rewarding transactions she had was securing a new home for a couple that lost their home due to Hurricane Ida. We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes this year.
Our other agents worked hard, overcame obstacles, and met some of their goals. All in all, 2021 was a fantastic year for everyone at Town & Parish Realty!
In February we collected over 100 boxes of cereal and shelf-stable milk for the foodbank. The foodbanks have been struggling since the beginning of the pandemic so it was nice to help them and know local people in need would have breakfast foods.
In December we partnered once again with Volunteer Ascension and adopted a family for Christmas. This is one of our favorite ways to give back to our community.
It seems that every time we wanted to plan a function, a surge would happen with COVID, so we weren’t able to mingle with our past clients as much as we had hoped. We are crossing our fingers that we can have some events this year because we miss seeing you guys!
2022
Looking ahead to 2022, you will find us advertising in 225 Magazine. We are super stoked about this collaboration! They have already featured our 2022 Greater Baton Rouge Housing Market Predictions blog! There is a new statewide purchase agreement that went into effect 01/01/2022, and our agents are well trained and ready to write up those offers. Our business plans are completed, and goals/intentions are set.
We have some leaders in our organization as well. Our Broker, Kristina Cusick, was re-elected to the GBRAR (Greater Baton Rouge Association of REALTORS) Board of Directors. She finished up 2021 as the GBRAR Treasurer and will serve as First Vice President this year. Nicole Epps will participate in the GBRAR Leadership program this year as well. Our agents were encouraged to sign up for committees and they did. We are proud to support our fellow agents at the local association level. Kristina was also elected to sit on the State Board of Directors to represent GBRAR.
In continuing to care for our community, we plan to help supply the new community fridge in Baton Rouge. We also want to help out Cara’s House and of course work with Volunteer Ascension again.
The thing we want to do most is to have an event to celebrate our clients. Of course, our main concern is keeping you safe. Hopefully, things will start looking up and we can have a get-together soon!
Let us know how we can help you with any of your real estate needs. We are ready! We wish you all a happy, healthy, prosperous 2022.
