Now that you have negotiated repairs from your inspection and the appraisal has been satisfied, it’s safe to hire movers and start packing! Call now to get moving estimates and secure a mover, as they often get booked up weeks in advance.
Remember that you can’t move into your new place until the closing is completed, as that is when you’re given the keys. Unfortunately, we can’t reserve a specific time for closing in advance, although we can request AM or PM. AM usually starts around 9 am and PM usually starts sometime between 1 – 4pm. Allow approximately 1 hour for closing. Usually, we don’t know the exact closing time until a few days before closing. The clear to close needs to happen before we can schedule the time for closing.

Whichever mover you hire, we highly recommend asking them to bring wardrobe boxes with them for all your hanging clothes. You won’t have to take everything off the hangers and pack the items up. Instead, the movers will grab everything in your hanging closets and put them on the rods in the boxes. Then when you get to your new home, you can grab the hangers and hang the items back up. We are all about saving time!
Moving can be incredibly stressful on pets, so consider having them stay with a friend or in daycare for a few days while you move and get settled into your new place. If that’s not possible, assign one family member to be your pet’s handler on moving day. Take some time to allow your pet to explore their new surroundings to get familiarized with them before bringing in furniture or other large items that might interfere with this process.
